What Is PD?
Pupillary Distance And How Is It Measured
Pupillary distance, also known as “PD” is a measurement in millimeters of the distance between the centers of your pupils.
This measurement is particularly useful when it comes to aligning your eyeglass lenses with your pupils to ensure the best fit, comfort, and viewing ability.
When ordering optical glasses from Mita, you will need to know your PD.
If you are unsure of your PD measurements, you can follow these simple steps to determine your PD on your own.
How To Measure Your Pupillary Distance in 4 Steps
Step 1
Position yourself approximately 8 inches away from a mirror
Step 2
Use a ruler or measuring tape and hold it up against your forehead slightly above your eyebrows
Step 3
Now, close your right eye, then line the ruler or measuring tape from the 0mm point with the center of your left pupil
Step 4
while looking straight ahead, close your left eye, then open your right eye.
The mm line that lines up to the center of your right pupil is your Pupillary Distance measurement or as normally called PD.
